Feedback from Recent Cohorts
"I had been receiving EPF statements for fifteen years without really understanding what most of the categories meant. The workshop gave me a proper vocabulary for the first time. It is strange to say, but I left feeling calmer — not more anxious — because I could finally read the document properly."

"My wife and I attended the group programme together, mostly because we wanted to have a shared basis for our retirement-related conversations at home. The couple session in week five was genuinely useful — we had a proper structured conversation for once, rather than talking past each other."

"The printed glossary alone was worth attending. I have it on my desk now and refer back to it when I receive statements. The facilitator was patient with questions and never made anyone feel foolish for not knowing something. That matters more than people realise."

"I enrolled in the year-long track because I wanted something that would hold my attention rather than a single weekend event I would promptly forget. The monthly pace suits how I learn. The book-club sessions are an unexpected highlight — I had not expected to find retirement topics genuinely readable."

"What I appreciated most was that no one tried to sell us anything. I have attended similar seminars before and always left feeling like I had been softened up for a sales call. This was genuinely different. The focus stayed on comprehension throughout."

"I joined the group programme with my husband. We are both in our early fifties and have been putting off thinking about retirement documents because it felt overwhelming. Saffron Quill helped us see that we were not behind — we just needed the right vocabulary, and now we have it."

Learning Journeys
How Participants Have Used What They Learned
Workshop Participant
The Challenge
A secondary school teacher in her late forties had been receiving EPF statements for over two decades but had never been able to confidently interpret the categories. She found financial terminology disorienting and had avoided engaging with the documents as a result.
The Learning
After attending the three-evening workshop, she worked through the glossary alongside her most recent statement and was able to identify and explain each category for the first time.
The Outcome
She described feeling more settled about her situation — not because anything had changed, but because she could finally read what was in front of her. She later enrolled in the group programme.
Group Programme Participants
The Challenge
A couple in their mid-fifties had different levels of familiarity with retirement terminology, which made household conversations about long-term planning frustrating. Neither wanted to lead the conversation from a position of partial knowledge.
The Learning
The six-week programme gave both partners a shared vocabulary. The couple-focused session in week five provided a structured conversation format they found immediately useful.
The Outcome
They reported having their first genuinely productive conversation about long-term household documents within a week of completing the programme. They have since introduced the vocabulary framework to their adult children.
Annual Track Participant
The Challenge
A senior manager in his early fifties wanted ongoing engagement with retirement literacy rather than a single intensive event. He had completed a workshop elsewhere but found the learning faded quickly without reinforcement.
The Learning
The monthly session structure and quarterly book-club readings gave him a rhythm for engaging with retirement-related material throughout the year. The reflection prompts encouraged him to revisit concepts between sessions.
The Outcome
By the sixth month, he noted that he was reading all retirement-related correspondence more carefully and with greater comprehension than at any previous point. He has re-enrolled for a second year.
